Wax Luminaries. A Miss.

I made these luminaries after seeing the beautiful pictures of them on Pinterest.  I followed the instructions letter by letter and out the original five that I made only two survived to the end.

But the two that did make it still have the blue balloons stuck to the wax, they're permanently bonded now.  They're easy to break and you can only use battery operated candles with them.  I don't know why but I'm a stickler for real candles.  Pyromaniac, I know!

So, ladies, save your money and time (it took me and hour to get the wax out of my pot).  Don't try this.

One good thing about today though is my new shirt from T.J. Maxx.  Only seven dollars!  Here's a peek:

Coconut Cupcakes

I made these yummy cupcakes yesterday after seeing this photo.

I just used yellow cake mix from a box, cream cheese frosting, and frozen coconut meat shavings.  So cheap, so yummy!  There were only six of them to go around since the original website Rikshaw Design didn't include any recipe for them and I didn't know if the different tastes would go together well.

But they did!  And I'm so happy with it and they're all so easy to make.  Just cook the cupcakes, let them cool completely, frost, and them sprinkle the coconut shavings on top.  Make sure that you press the shavings in a little bit so that they stick!  I also added an extra cupcake sleeve after I frosted to make it all look a bit better.

Since I only made six cupcakes there was a lot of mix and frosting left over so I made the rest into a coconut-free cake.
